Chapter Seven

It felt good to be back in Holland Park, although I wasn’t sure what I would find once we arrived at my house.

Would Zahir be waiting for us, anticipating our return?

Whatever, we were about to find out.

“I don’t like this, Sebastián, not one little bit,” Sienna grumbled.

“I can find you a hotel, perhaps The Dorchester, if my home isn’t to your liking?”

She ground her teeth together, the noise going through me. “Nobody said anything of the sort–come on, let’s go.”

I led the way. Adriel followed swiftly behind. Despite her own strength, she was scared. Sienna brought up the rear.

Sienna came to a sudden halt. “Do you hear that?”

Stopping in my tracks, I glanced about, wondering if we had company. “I don’t hear anything.”

She remained still.

Adriel turned to look at Sienna. “Me neither.”

“Then it’s official, I am finally losing my mi–there it is again, don’t tell me you didn’t hear it that time.”

I looked to Adriel and she shook her head. “Let’s go inside.”

“I heard somebody whisper my name, I’m certain of it,” Sienna said.

“I heard it too,” Sofia announced as she pulled the door to my home open.

Sofia stood just inside the door. “Majesty,” I said, shocked at my house invader. What are you doing here? I thought.

“Call me Sofia, please, Sebastián.”

“As you wish.”

“I apologise for letting myself in but couldn’t afford to loiter in public for fear of being seen by our kind. There is damage to the back door which I will of course recompense you for.”

“There is no need. I will have a glazier here within the hour. I hope my home meets your satisfaction.”

“It is perfectly lovely, Sebastián, and I would expect nothing less.”

“Hello again, Sofia,” Adriel said, walking into the house.

“It is good to see you once more,”

“You heard it too?” Sienna embraced her sister.

“Perfectly.”

“Do you think–?”

“Sienna, we should get inside.” I didn’t like to interrupt their reunion, but my neighbours were a snooty, slack-jawed lot and would notice I had visitors. They knew of my celebrity and would talk amongst themselves, and right now, more attention was something I didn’t need or want. I nodded to Sofia, then guided Sienna inside and closed the door, before double locking it, and sliding the bolt across. Pushing my way past the three women, I beckoned them into the kitchen. We would pow wow around the large oak table.
